Ply sheets for shelves, forms, and site packs.
Primary blade: Carbide Rip Blade

Plywood sheathing is usually bought for shelf carcasses, shuttering packs, backing panels, and quick site cuts where a full decorative finish is not the priority. On this path we start with the sheet build, the face grade, and the likely tear-out risk, then match it to the Carbide Rip Blade before the first rip goes through. Kerf notes matter here because imported ply and local stock do not always behave the same on the saw.
Begin by checking sheet thickness with a vernier instead of trusting the label, especially on mixed packs. Then set blade height just above the top veneer and confirm fence pressure is not pushing the panel off line. If the job includes narrow strips, support the offcut side so the last section does not splinter at exit.
In South African workshops, plywood sheathing often sits near building timber, cement dust, and damp morning air, all of which affect cut quality. Durban humidity can lift fibres on lower grade sheets, while Highveld dust quickly builds on tables and guides. During load-shedding windows, use the powered time for the main rips and leave marking, stacking, and edge checks for the outage.
Most plywood sheathing jobs only need one clean primary route, but the setup must still be written down clearly for the operator at the machine. Note the sheet size, tooth direction, bore, and whether the cut is along or across the face veneer before you send a query. A short message with the material, city, and fault seen on the edge is more useful than a long explanation.
Jobs moving through Kya Sands, Clearwater, Cresta, Pavilion, Tyger Valley, Baywest, Mimosa, and Riverside need notes that travel with the cut list, not just with the sample piece. Mark whether the sheet was warped, damp, patched, or unusually brittle so the next team does not read the edge incorrectly.
Trouble usually starts when sheathing ply is treated like cabinet-grade birch or premium decorative board. Voids inside the core can open suddenly, and thin face veneers will chip if feed is too hard or the panel drifts off the fence. Keep these cuts separate from acrylic, aluminium, or melamine work so settings do not get changed mid-run.
Heat, dust, and rushed sheet swaps remain the main causes of waste on plywood sheathing cuts in SA shops. Use the matching kerf note with the blade page, and send the issue through the contact form with your city, saw bore, and what the edge is doing. That gives enough detail to compare the problem against common rip-cut behaviour on this material.

State whether the sheet is shutter ply, construction ply, or a furniture-grade panel being used as sheathing. Add the nominal thickness, the saw diameter, and a photo of the cut edge if you are seeing breakout, burn, or wander. If the stock is for crates or packs going across the border, say so with the rest of the cutting details.
Mounting parts still affect these cuts, particularly when older saws are running reducers or replacement flanges from mixed sets. Check under Holders for the hardware side, then use the print cards in Resources to keep blade, kerf, and setup terms the same at the bench and the panel saw.
