Shim Pack

Shim sizes for width setting

Shim packs are used to fine-tune dado width and to space a blade correctly on the arbor. Thin steel shims let a workshop add small increments without forcing a fit or grinding a collar. On busy South African machines, that matters when sheet goods vary slightly between batches and the cut must still land on size.

Before fitting a shim, clean the flange faces and check for burrs, resin or trapped dust. Measure the stack you need, keep matching thicknesses together, and mark the set used for each cutter arrangement. If your saw or cutter setup falls outside the usual range, send the details through our contact form.

Flange checks before stacking

Use the pages under Blades, Kerfs and Resources to compare cutter widths with the shim sizes you keep at the machine. Those references help when changing from one groove specification to another or when checking whether a spacing issue comes from the blade, the flange or the stack itself.

Shim thickness and kerf matching

A precise cutter catalogue without holders is half a story. TrueCut keeps holders visible so workshops do not invent flange habits under pressure. Operated by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd, Sunnyrock 1401.

Send arbor and stack details

Send unusual arbor sizes, spacing details, and the machine location in Kya Sands, Johannesburg where relevant through our contact form. That helps match shim thickness to the holder and cutting setup.
