Dado groove

Housing groove after stack pass. Gallery leaves exist for workshops that want a visual reference before they open a blade path. This is not a moodboard dump. Each frame ties back to a kerf habit or a disc geometry.

Use the frame together with Blades and Kerfs when you are checking a stacked cut for a housing. The photo helps staff spot shoulder break-out, slight ridging between chippers, and the flatness left at the bottom of the trench. If you need a larger print for a machine bay board, send the request through our contact form.

Stack pass tells

In a dado groove, start by checking whether both shoulders are crisp and square to the face. Then look across the base for chipper lines, resin build-up marks, or a centre ridge from uneven stack spacing. On melamine and veneered board, even a small exit bruise at the top edge usually points to feed pressure, stack assembly, or a blunt outside cutter.

Limits

Workshop light in Gauteng dust will show a groove differently from a catalogue frame. What matters is whether the housing fits the shelf or divider without rocking, and whether the depth stays consistent along the full pass. A quick rule check on width and a test fit off the saw save board on cabinet runs.

Housing cuts on SA boards

Send dado groove queries through our contact form with the board type, finished groove width, and saw diameter currently in use. Teams around Kya Sands, Johannesburg often add whether they are cutting melamine, MDF, birch ply, or solid pine, as each one shows the stack marks differently.
