Aluminium cut face

Negative rake finish on angle bar

Negative rake finish on angle bar. Gallery leaves exist for workshops that want a visual reference before they open a blade path. This is not a moodboard dump. Each frame ties back to a kerf habit or a disc geometry.

Use this close-up alongside Blades and Kerfs when checking a non-ferrous setup on angle or flat bar. On aluminium, a clean face should show even feed marks with minimal burr at the exit corner and no smeared pick-up along the cut. If you need a sharper reference for operator training or a wall chart, send it through our contact form.

What this aluminium face shows

Notice the fine circular witness lines and the way the arris stays intact on the outer edge of the angle. A negative rake disc helps stop the material grabbing, especially on lighter section that chatters when clamped poorly. Check the face for chip welding, torn exit grain, and any bright rub marks that suggest too much speed for the section.

Limits

In a Gauteng shop, aluminium often arrives with oxide, marker ink, or packing grime that changes the look of the cut. Compare the surface pattern, not the shine, after wiping the bar and clearing swarf from the vice and back fence. Where paraffin or wax stick is used sparingly, the face usually shows less loading on the tooth path.
